Giving Voice & Giving Voice Community

You can click here to learn a lot more about our giving voice programme.
A young man with little verbal ability being empowered through alternative communication techniques.
Through the lifetime of these programmes we have been fortunate to receive funding from the Gloucestershire County Council Digital Innovation and Thriving Communities Funds and the National lottery Community Fund. we have been able to devise and deliver focused one on one or, two on one sessions. These are specifically for those who not only have complex additional needs, but also have little or no speech capability.

We have an array of technology and techniques used to enable communication. Developing the trust and skills takes time, and trust is the key element. The blend of activities and equipment that delivers results can vary significantly from one individual to another.

Adequate preparation is a must for successfully delivering the sessions. We often spend more time preparing than delivering. The activities predominantly happen in the home environment, whether that’s a family or care setting, meaning that our project leaders have to cover quite a few miles despite careful planning.
The ‘Giving Voice’ project has been active from late 2021. It has a proven track record of improving the levels of interaction between a small number of people with little or no speech capability as well as additional/complex needs, learning difficulties and disabilities.
Giving Voice Community is extending and growing our reach that will increase our team of paid professionals to include a ‘Community Leader and increase the trained and equipped volunteer numbers. This will grow our capacity to create wider communication channels between people with limited or no speech capability and their community. We are striving to meet demand. We are building on past success and experience by further refining the process of creating, planning, delivering and measuring the effectiveness of bespoke development plans. Enabling those within families and support groups through coaching and teaching skills is also key.
